Personal, Social and Physical Education in Primary School
The PE team is dedicated to the wellbeing and physical development of students through an instructional programme that includes games, adventure challenges, movement composition, gymnastics, individual pursuits and health-related fitness. As with all other areas of the Primary School curriculum when connections to trans disciplinary learning are authentic, collaborative teams are formed and a holistic approach is planned and implemented.
The programme supports the growth of physical literacy (knowledge), both the skills of PE and learning, and transferable understandings. Expectations are specific and clear. Homeroom teachers constantly support the physical development of learners through games and activities within and beyond the classroom.
The Sport element of the programme is satisfied through the After School Activities programme. Learners sign up for friendly, competitive and skill-based activities at this time. Competition is played in-school and against other local schools.
Physical and Health Education in Secondary School
The PHE programme provides a foundation for every student’s physical and social development. It is designed to develop positive attitudes towards physical activities and to instill a desire for life-long involvement in sport. The programme is co-educational and structured to provide students with a wide range of activities which includes striking and fielding, invasion games, health related fitness, global games, athletics and aesthetic activities.
Four separate tasks:
Task 1 – Knowledge and Understanding
Task 2 – Planning for Performance
Task 3 – Performance
Task 4 – Reflection and Evaluation
During the e-Portfolio, students have the opportunity to develop their research, interpersonal, time management, organisational, performance and communication skills by working, reciprocally, as a coach and a client.
The Sports Department is committed to educate every student through Sports while supporting the mission and vision of SR Vidhyalaya. Through Sports, SR Vidhyalaya aims to help students grow and learn, while helping them become knowledgeable, caring, confident and responsible global citizens. This manifests itself both by participating in competitive sport teams and taking advantage of internships in Sports Sciences like sports medicine, sports biomechanics, sports management and marketing, and sports coaching, with our partner, Centre for Sports Excellence.
